European Award for Research Team

The European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) presented the "Vascular Young Investigator Award" 2018 to the clinical research team led by heart surgeon and Heisenberg Professor Christian D. Etz at its annual meeting in Milan (18-20 October 2018). In front of international experts, Dr. Konstantin von Aspern from the working group, presented the cooperation project between the Heisenberg Professorship for Aortic Surgery and PAPAartis, currently located at the University of Leipzig. The PAPAartis trial is one of the largest publicly funded clinical studies worldwide on the prevention of spinal cord damage during aortic surgery. PAPAartis Meetings

During this year's EACTS annual conference (European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery) in Milan (18.10.-20.10.2018), the third consortium meeting of the PAPAartis study with numerous international experts (among others Houston, London, New York and Vienna) took place. Another meeting with high-ranking international experts, among others from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA and the Texas Heart Center, USA took place a few days later at the University of Duisburg-Essen as part of the 'Aortic Live' symposium.
