PAPAartis at AATS Aortic Symposium in New York (VIDEO)
PAPAartis co-ordinator Prof. Christian Etz presented the project at the AATS Aortic Symposium in New York.
Prof Etz talked in detail about the experimental findings which led to the establishment of the PAPAartis clinical trial, including the breakthrough in visualising the collateral blood supply of the spinal cord in 3D, and advances in the understanding of the processes which trigger arteriogenesis. These developments gave rise to the concept of staged re-routing of the spinal blood supply to protect the spinal cord during aortic surgery, the concept which is at the centre of the PAPAartis clinical trial.
Prof. Etz also discussed the set-up of the trial and its current progress.
